Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior political figure said the incident made him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
